Leicester University Chamber Choir

Leicester University Chamber Choir is a group around 35 singers, based at the University of Leicester. We perform regularly in Leicester and further afield, and enjoy exploring a wide variety of choral repertoire, both sacred and secular. Our membership is drawn mainly from the University's student body (both undergraduate and postgraduate), but we also welcome Associate members, often from other local universities, colleges and 6th Forms.

 Cadenza during rehearsal

Cadenza during rehearsal

2016 yielded a very exciting development for LUCC, with the launch of our sister choir, Cadenza. Cadenza is an auditioned choir of upper voices, with an emphasis on learning and improving sight-reading and all-round musicianship, and the audition looks for potential and willingness to learn. Cadenza is student-led, allowing a raft of musical opportunities for students, including the annual Conducting Scholarship, Accompanist Scholarships, and the opportunity for students to engage in vocal coaching and peer mentoring. All student leaders are able to consult extensively with professional musicians for help and advice, and the new choir will also benefit from regular workshops.

We are currently looking for Conducting Scholars and Accompanist Scholars to lead the choir and continue the good work of our former scholars, Maddie Welland and Tim Shelbourne. If you're a budding musical leader or a keen pianist, please do get in touch via the Contact page to ask for more information or to arrange an audition.
